trowels
Trowels are a recurring motif in my work, symbolising where the hand meets the soil - domestic gardening implements expressing the human link to urban nature. Loss is a group of slip cast ghost like wall pieces and sculptures, the collection Big Yellow Taxi directly references the Joni Mitchell classic: “they paved paradise, put up a parking lot. Don’t it always seem to go, we don’t know what we’ve got till it’s gone?”and Brickfield Trowels embed my research into foraged clay and materials, formed and glazed with clay from London and the china clay region of Cornwall.
